The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Hon. Wahab Akanni Owokoniran has inspected some ongoing projects secured for the University by the University Governing Council under his leadership.

The visit, according to the Institution’s Chief Information and Communication Officer, Mr Umar Usman, was paid on Monday, 24th August, 2026 by the Pro-Chancellor and representative of the Chairman, Project Monitoring Committee of the University Governing Council.

Addressing members of University Management before the projects inspection, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Hon. Wahab Akanni Owokoniran emphasized on the importance of team work for the overall development of the University.

He said that he was at the University to inspect ongoing projects in his efforts to ensure project quality and strict adherence to standards governing the terms and conditions of contract awards.

“Before embarking on the inspection, I decided to first interact with the University Management and this interaction is the second we are having in 2026.

“I want to assure you that, I will from time to time be interacting with you with the aim of getting first hand information on the needs of the University.

“I urge you to continue to support the Governing Council in performing its mandates and I want you to feel free with me in doing so.

“We have secured so many projects for the University including Senate Building, Centre for Railway Signal and Communication, Hostel Accommodation for our students, renovation of Great Green Wall building and it’s renaming as Centre of Transpo-Entrepreneurship”, Hon. Owokoniran said.

Others according to him were, construction of workshops, school of general studies, block of class rooms, and faculty buildings.

“This inspection is to see for ourselves the development made so far on the execution of these projects as well as ensure quality especially being the University one of the newly established universities with critical needs for the utilization of many generations to come”, he said.

Addressing members of the University Management at the end of the project oversight visit, he expressed his happiness with what he witnessed, describing the progress as a giant stride and an uncommon achievement within short period of time.

He particularly thanked the Management team for their strong cooperation with the Vice-Chancellor.

He noted, “I believe the achievements we witnessed today would not have been possible without your cooperation with the Vice-Chancellor. I thank you for that, and I urge you to please maintain this spirit of collaboration.”

He also commended the contractors for building solid structures and urged them to maintain the standards.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Hon. Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, mni, welcomed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman to the University and appreciated him for sparing time out of his busy schedules to make the visit.

“This, no doubt, showed the importance the Chairman attached to the University and it’s development.

“This is the second meeting that the Pro-Chancellor is having with University Management within this year. It is our hope that the same tempo will be sustained by Hon. Owokoniran”, the Vice-Chancellor said.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, and Management Staff of the University were then taken round for projects inspection by the Director of Physical Planning & Municipal Services, Arch. Usman Mukhtar Wali.

At the sites, Arch. Wali briefed the Pro-Chancellor and members of management about the projects, where the Pro-Chancellor raised some vital observations on how to improve the work done.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council interacted with contractors and consultants on the projects at the sites.
