The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal University of Transportation, Daura (FUTD), Hon. Wahab Akanni Owokoniran, has hailed Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, for his support towards the university.
In his remarks during the 2nd matriculation ceremony yesterday, Owokoniran solicited the governor’s assistance in providing a 33KVA transformer to enable the university to meet the power needs of the University
The Pro-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the governor for his continued support to the university, acknowledging the state government’s instrumental role in the institution’s growth. He noted that the university is located in Katsina State and therefore, the state’s support is crucial to its development.
The Pro-chancellor who said the University currently relies on generators due to the high cost of diesel, which is a significant strain on its resources, emphasized that the provision of a 33KVA transformer would enable the university to function efficiently and effectively, without relying on generators.
He assured the governor that the university would make good use of the transformer and ensure that it benefits the students and the entire university community.
The Pro-Chancellor also thanked the Minister of Transportation, Sen. Sa’id Ahmed Alkali, for his support towards the university. He noted that the minister’s efforts have been instrumental in the university’s growth and development, and he urged him to continue supporting the institution.
Owokoniran also expressed gratitude to other stakeholders, including Mota-Engil Nigeria Limited and CCECC Nigeria Limited, for their financial support.
The Pro-Chancellor congratulated the newly admitted students on their matriculation and urged them to take their studies seriously. He emphasized that the university is committed to providing a conducive learning environment, equipped with necessary facilities to fulfill its mandates.
Owokoniran assured the students that the university would continue to work closely with the Federal Government, industry stakeholders, and national and international partners to strengthen its infrastructure, curricula, and research capacity.
The Pro-chancellor urged the students to make the most of their time at the university and to avoid engaging in any social vice that could destroy their future. He emphasized that the university is committed to producing graduates who are morally and academically equipped to make a positive impact in society.
He thanked all invited guests, including royal fathers, members of the National Assembly, and heads of security agencies, for honoring the university’s invitation.
