The five year eventful tenure of the Second Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Angela Freeman Miri, which came to an end on 12th February, left very negative and indelible mark in the history of the Institution.

For the first time in the history of Nigerian Universities, the exit of a Vice Chancellor was openly celebrated by members of the University Community.

Professor Miri who had had running battles with almost all stakeholders of the University throughout her tenure, fueled by different allegations of corruption, high-handedness and abuse of office, exited the Institution on a bad note, as her exit was openly celebrated by both Staff and Students of the University.

Those that celebrated the VC’s exit carried posters with different inscriptions that read, “OBITUARY”, “TRANSITION, with gratitude to God we announce the successful exit of the tyranny personified.”

One of those that celebrated end of the VC’s tenure, who preferred to be anonymous, told Education Monitor that the ex-VC who is corruption personified looted the Institution’s treasury and left for her successor the debt of over N100m.
