The Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, has received official approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence undergraduate degree programs, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic development.
Following a successful resource verification visit by the NUC in July 2025, the university’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Suleiman Balarabe, announced the approval on behalf of the Governing Council and University Management.
Prospective students who scored 150 and above in the 2025 UTME and hold NCE certificates are eligible to apply for the 2025/2026 academic session. The university will offer degree programs across four faculties:
1) Faculty of Education: Including B.Ed programs in Educational Management, Special Needs Education, and Guidance & Counselling
2) Faculty of Arts Education: Featuring B.A.Ed/B.Ed in English, French, Islamic Studies and African Languages
3) Faculty of Science Education: Offering B.Sc.Ed in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and other STEM fields
4) Faculty of Social Science & Vocational Education: Covering Business Education, Agriculture Education, and Entrepreneurship
Candidates who didn’t initially select FUEZ as their first choice can visit any JAMB-accredited CBT center to obtain a green card for program change.
The university’s Director of Information and Publications, Rakiya Sidi, officially signed the announcement, confirming this new chapter in FUEZ’s academic offerings that will expand access to quality teacher education in Nigeria.
This development positions FUEZ as a dual-mode institution, maintaining its NCE programs while adding degree options to meet Nigeria’s growing demand for qualified educators.
