Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina state, has secured approval of National Universities Commission to commence seven strategic Undergraduate programmes beginning from the 2024/2025 academic session.
The approval was contained in a letter signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning of the Commission, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary, by Mr Chris J. Maiyaki, conveying the approval addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, entitled, “Re. Resource Assessment Visit to Proposed Academic Programmes”, dated 11th September, 2024.
The letter partly read, “the Vice-Chancellor is please invited to recall that a resource verification visit was carried out by Panels of experts to some proposed academic programmes in Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina state, with a view of assessing the human and material resources available for their establishment”.
“I am directed to inform the Vice-Chanellor that the Acting Executive Secretary has considered and approved the establishment of the Full-time mode of the following programmes to be run in the Main Campus of the University with effect from 2024/2025 academic session”, he said.
The seven Programmes include: B.Sc Cyber security, B. Sc Information Technology, B.Sc Software Engineering, B.Sc Petroleum Chemistry, B.Sc Public Administration, B.Audiology, and B.Sc Medicinal Chemistry.
The Letter which stressed that the approval does not cover the Part-time mode of delivery of the undergraduate programmes, clarified that, “before the Part-time mode of the Programmes can commence, a request should be forwarded to the Commission for further processing”.
The National Universities Commission further highlighted that the programmes shall bear only the approved title and numenclature, and any change will require the approval of the Commission. “The University is enjoined to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved programmes”, the Commission stressed.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, “We are thrilled to receive NUC’s approval, which validates our efforts to innovate and respond to industry demands. These programs will equip our students with the skills and knowledge required to drive Nigeria’s growth and development.”
