The Federal University Dutsin-Ma has converted 194 non-teaching staff to the academic teaching cadre as part of an ongoing restructuring plan approved by Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammed Khalid Othman.

The conversion follows recommendations from a committee set up to implement the university’s Staff Audit Report. The committee reviewed the institution’s staffing structure and identified 295 non-teaching staff who could potentially transition to teaching roles based on qualifications and institutional needs.

After physical verification, qualification checks, and capability assessments, 194 staff were confirmed eligible and successfully converted. The university said the process was conducted based on staff interest, merit, fairness, and transparency

Professor Othman described the move as part of his vision to make effective use of the university’s human resources. He drew a parallel with countries like China that have leveraged large populations to drive development and productivity.

The university expressed hope that the new academic staff would demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and commitment in their roles, and contribute to positioning FUDMA among world-class, top-ranking universities.

The restructuring is one of several steps the university has taken to align its workforce with academic needs and improve efficiency across departments.
