The Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State has announced accreditation for 23 new full-time undergraduate and 21 postgraduate programmes.

This significant achievement was confirmed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and will take effect from the 2023/2024 academic session.

Habib Umar-Amin, the Coordinator of the Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol (DPRP) of the University, disclosed the information in a statement to newsmen in Katsina on Wednesday.

He said the approval for the new programmes was conveyed in a letter signed by Dr. N.B Saliu, the Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, the letter was addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Armayau Hamisu-Bichi.

According to Mr Umar-Amin, the accreditation was granted after a thorough resource verification visit to the university by a panel of experts from the NUC.

The visit aimed to assess the availability of human and material resources required for the establishment of the proposed programmes.

He further revealed some of the newly introduced undergraduate programmes, which include B.Sc in Mass Communication, LL.B in Law, B.Eng in Mechatronics Engineering, and B.Sc in International Relations and Diplomacy.

Additionally, the university now offers programmes such as B.URP in Urban and Regional Planning, B.Sc in Applied Geophysics, B.Tech in Entrepreneurship, B.Tech in Textile Design Technology, and others.

The DPRP highlights that these new programmes are in addition to the existing 80-plus undergraduate and postgraduate programmes already offered by the university.
