The Federal University of Transportation, Daura (FUTD) has successfully held its 2025 students’ orientation exercise for newly admitted students, marking the beginning of their academic journey. The program, which took place on Thursday, 27th February, 2025, aimed to enlighten and educate the fresh undergraduate students on the university’s expectations and provide them with essential information to navigate their academic journey.
During the event, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Sani Ahmad Katsayal, advised the students to desist from social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, smoking, and examination malpractice. He emphasized the importance of discipline, integrity, and adherence to the university’s ethical standards.
Other speakers at the event included the Head of Department, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Dr. Mohammad Rabi’u Musa; the Acting Registrar, Malam Muhammad Ibrahim; and the Director, Academic Planning, Prof. Ahmad Abubakar. They provided valuable insights on various aspects of university life, including academic excellence, organizational structure, and student responsibilities.
Prof. Abdullahi Balarabe Sallau, Prof. Sheidu Sadique, and Prof. M.S. Abubakar addressed some common students’ concerns, including course registration, examination timetable, how to calculate their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), and requirements for examination entries.
The orientation program also featured presentations from other university officials, including the Acting Bursar, Dr. Suleiman Muhammad Bello; the Acting Chief Security Officer, ACP Musa Uba Rtd; and representatives from the Health Services and Guidance and Counselling units.
The event was well-attended, and the newly admitted students expressed their appreciation for the informative and engaging program. With this successful orientation, FUTD has set the stage for a productive and enriching academic year for its new students.
