President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutsen-ma, Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, for successfully moving the university to greater heights within five years of his eventful stewardship.
The President, who is also the Visitor of the university, urged the graduates to apply their knowledge and skills to excel and face challenges, while being good ambassadors of their alma mater and Nigeria.
The President made this call during the university’s 9th convocation ceremony, where he congratulated graduands, faculty, and staff on their achievements. He emphasized the significance of the occasion, acknowledging the dedication and perseverance of the graduands.
President Tinubu who was represented at the occasion by the Vice-chancellor of Federal University Dutse, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad, reminded the graduates that success is a journey, not a destination. He encouraged them to go out and make a positive impact in their communities, leveraging the knowledge and skills acquired during their time at the university.
The President commended Federal University Dutsen-ma for its growth and development since its establishment in 2011. From a modest beginning of three faculties and 218 students, the university has expanded to 14 faculties, a college of health sciences, and 56 academic departments.
On security, President Tinubu assured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to combating terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry. He emphasized the importance of education in national development, urging universities to engage in groundbreaking research and partner with industries to enhance their capacities.
President Tinubu encouraged private sector participation in funding education, commending Federal University Dutse’s efforts in providing quality education. He also highlighted the university’s research centers, including the Center for Agricultural Research & Extension Services and the Centre for Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution.
Four eminent Nigerians were honored with honorary degrees for their contributions to national development. The recipients included Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senator Aliyu Magatarkada Wammako, and Honourable Kabir Abubakar.
President Tinubu concluded his speech by urging Nigerians to have faith in the country and its leadership. He emphasized that Nigeria is on the march to greatness, despite current challenges.
The 9th convocation ceremony marked a significant milestone for Federal University Dutsen-ma, demonstrating its commitment to knowledge, excellence, and service.
Federal University Dutsen-ma offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including faculties of agriculture, arts and social sciences, computing, education, management sciences, and science.
As Federal University Dutsen-ma continues to grow, it remains dedicated to providing quality education and fostering research and community engagement.
