Federal Polytechnic Daura on Tuesday matriculated over 1,200 newly admitted students during its 5th Matriculation Ceremony, marking another milestone in the institution’s academic record.
The students were admitted into 31 National Diploma, 11 Higher National Diploma, and 11 Part-Time National Diploma programmes approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The ceremony was held on April 15, 2025, at the Polytechnic campus in Daura.
Speaking at the event, the Rector, Dr. Musa Gambo K.K., FNIM, FNIMN, frpa, congratulated the new students for securing admission and urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their academic pursuits. He called on students to shun all forms of misconduct.
Dr. Gambo used the occasion to unveil his administration’s strategic agenda, which includes plans to expand the Polytechnic’s academic programmes with modern, digital, and demand-driven courses aimed at producing graduates with practical and employable skills. He disclosed that the expansion is targeted for implementation by the 2027 academic session, with proposed programmes such as Mass Communication, Water Resources Technology, and other courses designed to meet societal needs, national development goals, and labour market demands.
The Rector emphasized that Management remains committed to strengthening academic standards regulated by the NBTE and TVET, supported by TETFund, while improving learning facilities and introducing programmes that align with technological and professional trends. He assured stakeholders that the institution will continue to pursue innovative strategies to position Federal Polytechnic Daura to stand taller among its peers.
The ceremony drew Management staff, Deans, Directors, Heads of Department, parents, guardians, and dignitaries from sister institutions. They included the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Transportation Daura, Prof. Idris Umar Katsayal, represented by the Director of Academic Planning; the Provost, Yusuf Bala Usman College of Legal Studies, Prof. Mansur Sani Kani; and the Director, Bawo College of Science, Technology Daura, among others who delivered goodwill messages.
Activities continued on April 16, 2025, with an orientation programme for the new students organized by Polytechnic Management at the School of Vocational Education, Skills and Professional Development, Zango Road. Resource persons from the Nigerian Fire Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and other security agencies enlightened students on safety, discipline, drug abuse prevention, and responsible conduct on and off campus.
Key members of Management also delivered presentations on academic expectations, discipline, and institutional rules. Presenters included Rector Dr. Musa Gambo K.K., Registrar Suleiman Saad Gwarzo, Polytechnic Librarian Dr. Aliyu Usman, the Bursar represented by Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, Deputy Rector and Dean, School of Science Technology Dr. Hamisu Adamu, Chairman (ACTU) and Dean, School of Business Muhammad Saleh, Dean, School of Agricultural Technology Dr. Manir Isah Kerau, and Director of Works and Physical Planning Malam Tijjani, among other principal officers.
