Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo has commended the Founder and President of Maryam Abacha American University, Niger , Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for establishing similar university in Kano state.
The Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria is currently under construction at Hotoro area in Kano metropolis.
The Senator made the commendation when he paid a visit to the University’s site in Kano.
He said the decision by Professor Gwarzo to establish a university in. Kano was a clear indication that he is committed to the social and economic development of his people.
“It is only a committed and patriotic citizen that can initiate such a gigantic project and it is really heart warming to see a project or an investment in education like this one.
“So Professor Gwarzo has his people at heart hence his resolve to take the pain to invest in education.
He described professor Gwarzo as an epitome of scholarship who is committed to the development of his state in particular and the country at large.
“Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo should be commended by all well meaning individuals for this singular iniative as there people who are richer than him but lack the patriotism and commitment to effect such a giant stride,” he added.
While calling on both the Federal and Kano State governments to support him in completing the project, Gwarzo also stressed the need for the emulation of such academic endeavour at the time when the establishment of more universities in the country became necessary.
