Concerned Citizens of Gwantu General Assembly (CCGGA) in Gwantu Chiefdom in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna state have called on the Paramount Chief of the Chiefdom, Brigadier General Iliya Yamma (Rtd), to do all that is within his Powers to educate and persuade his subjects on the need to embrace the well thought-out and popular decision of Kaduna State Government to change the name of Numana Chiefdom to Gwantu Chiefdom.
Spokesman of the Concerned Citizens, Mr Dan Adam Ali, told Palace Monitor in a chat in Abuja that the appeal has become imperative in view of growing refusal by some influential people in the Chiefdom to embrace and address the Chiefdom as Gwantu Chiefdom, as recently renamed and Gazetted by the Kaduna state Government.
Mr. Ali said the Paramount Chief who is the government’s recognized leader of the Chiefdom should be in the forefront of compelling his subjects to respect Government’s decisions and policies, particularly on issues that are meant to unite the people to achieve the most and long needed peace, stability and development of the Chiefdom
The CCGA which commended the State Government for its tireless efforts to address the yearnings and aspirations of all communities in the state and for carrying along, traditional rulers, who are the true grassroot leaders and custodians of our culture in the country, in the onerous task of developing the state, also commended Chief Yamma for his commitment to bring people of the entire Chiefdom together despite their ethnic, tribal and religious differences.
The CCGA also called on all leaders of different tribes that constitute the Chiefdom, that include Gwantu, Numana, Nandu, Sanga, Numbu, Dangam, Hausa etc. to embrace one another and collectively work towards moving the Chiefdom forward.
