The academic community in Nigeria and worldwide is in mourning as it loses a towering figure and leading scholar of Political Science, Professor Rauf Ayoade Dunmoye.

The esteemed academic giant passed away this morning in Zaria at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence, mentorship, and impact.

Professor Dunmoye’s remarkable career was marked by his outstanding contribution to Political Science, earning him international recognition and respect.

His record-breaking feat of producing 47 PhDs is a testament to his dedication, expertise, and passion for nurturing future generations of scholars.

His retirement had already created a void in the political science department and the university, and his passing has now left an irreplaceable gap in the academic community.

However, his enduring legacy will continue to inspire and influence scholars, ensuring his impact is felt for generations to come.

As we bid farewell to this academic icon, we take comfort in the knowledge that his contributions will never be forgotten.

Professor Dunmoye will be laid to rest later today, at funeral prayers according to Islamic rites at Muinudeen Islamic Society Mosque, No 4, Yoruba Street, Sabon Gari Zaria, at 2.00 pm. May his remarkable life and legacy continue to inspire us, and may he rest in peace.
