Covid-19 has claimed the life of second high profile Nigerian, the immediate past Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Kachalla Maikanti Baru. This was confirmed to Education Monitor by one of his former closest aides in the NNPC.
The source said the former GMD died yesterday at a COVID-19 isolation centre in Abuja.
The source said he was first hospitalised at Cedarcrest hospital where son of President Buhari, Yusuf, was first rushed to and stabilised after his byke accident two years ago.
The source also disclosed that funeral prayer for the 62 year old former NNPC GMD is expected to take place later in the day in Abuja.
