The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has vowed to mobilize and mount pressure on the Council, Management, Senate, Staff, Students, Alumni and  other Stakeholders of the University to ensure the withdrawal of the degree Certificates of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai of kaduna State.
The Union which rose from an emergency meeting yesterday (Wednesday) where they discussed matters of urgent academic interest and the future of the University unanimously condemned how the Governor has been making relentless and covert moves to forcefully seize ABU lands, particularly the one on which it’s Mando Kaduna-based College of Agrículture and Animal Science is sited.
A Press Statement issued to Education Monitor shortly after the emergency Congress of the Union, Dated 2/03/2022, and jointly signed by it’s Chairman, Dr Haruna M. Jibril, and Secretary, Dr Hussein A. Abdullahi read, “The ASUU-ABU Branch at its Congress meeting of 2nd March,2022, deliberated on the matter of the attempt by Nasir El-Rufai, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State to illegally and forcefully, and in utter disregard of an order by a competent Court of law, take over lands belonging to the Ahmadu Bello University, an Institution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a historic and premier University, the Congress thus resolved to:
“Visit the Mando College of Agriculture and Animal Science where the lands are to register it’s protest over the illegal land seizure”
“Issue advice to the relevant organs of Ahmadu Bello University to formerly withdraw the degree certificates awarded to Nasiru El-Rufai by the University, as his many actions are in contravention of the requirements in character and learning deemed worthy of ABU degree award”
