The 55MW CCETC-Ossiomo Independent Power Plant in Benin City Edo state has been described as a great step towards boosting economic activities in the state.

The power plant which has begun power supply to major government’s buildings and servicing streetlights in major roads in the city, is said to be a great achievement by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration in fulfilling its campaign promises to the people of Edo State to ensure steady power supply in the state.

The Director-General, Edo Liaison Office in Abuja, Dcn Festus Osaigbovo, who commended the governor for the achievement, said the project is a great step towards improving economic activities in the state.

He noted that the new Power Plant, which has already supplied Power to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, which is billed to host the AFCON qualifier clash between Nigeria and Sierra Leon, is a pointer that Edo state is on the match to a new era.
According to him, “now that OSSIOMO has begun power supply to major governments buildings, servicing our streetlights in major roads in the city, Edo production hub that is providing constant power for our small and medium scale enterprises you will see that the deficits left to be serviced which is the residential areas and some private businesses can now be serviced adequately by the BEDC meaning Benin city will be enjoying constant electricity supply going forward”.
He enjoined Edo people to continue to support the administration of Governor Obaseki in building a virile Edo state which will be the economic epicenter of the South-South.
