The Chairman of Joint Health Staff Union (JOHESU), Federal Medical Centre Jabi-Abuja, Comrade Talatu Haruna, has congratulated the Centre’s Medical Director, Professor Sa’ad A. Ahmed for clocking one year as the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital.
Comrade Haruna who spoke in an exclusive interview with Health Monitor on the occasion marking the Medical Director’s first, but low keyed or almost uncelebrated anniversary, described Professor Sa’ad as the first MD that has practically demonstrated in several ways that he has the Centre at heart. “This can be seen from the way he has radically transformed the Centre beyond our imagination, even with meagre resources.” She stressed.
Comrade Haruna who also described Professor Sa’ad as the best Medical Director the Centre has ever had, giving the volume of achievements he has recorded within the short span of one year, vowed that what Professor Sa’ad has achieved in only one year surpasses by far, what his predecessors, put together, achieved in several years.
The JOHESU Chairman said, “without mincing words, Since the inception of the hospital in 2014, our Union has had running battles with previous Medical Directors on so many legitimate demands of our members without success. But, barely three days after his assumption of duty last year, Professor Sa’ad, on his own, invited us to his office for interaction and to hear our legitimate grievances, with the promise to address them, which he actually did”.
“I can assure you that, as at today, all our demands, ranging from staff welfare, staff development, promotion arrears, apart from that of 2019 which he inherited, have all been addressed. In fact, he has even promised to pay the one that he inherited”
She said for the first time in the history of the hospital, 11 members of JOHESU have been released to further their studies in different institutions, with their full salaries.
