A Zaria-based Lawyer and human rights activist, Comrade Ishaq Muhammad, has called on Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai to appoint his bosom friend and one of his reliable allies, the dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, who has turned into an Islamic Cleric or Ustaz, as the Emir of Kaduna.
Comrade Ishaq who made the call in a telephone chat with Palace Monitor regretted that since his dethronement, apart from Governor El-Rufai, no prominent Emir or Northerner, has shown concern and solidarity with the dethroned Emir, like Governor El-Rufai.
Comrade Ishaq wondered why northern elites, including those that the dethroned Emir was their benefactor when he held sway as the nation’s Apex Bank Governor, abandoned him in such a hurry and left him wandering, with no permanent abode, from one place to another like a nomad.
The lawyer opined that what Sanusi is facing today was what he could have faced when he was sacked as the Central Bank’s Governor by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, were it not for the quick intervention of the then Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who made him the Emir of kano, against all odds.
The human rights activist who commended Governor El-Rufai for standing by Sanusi in his unfortunate and most trying moment in life, said the only thing he needs to do to fully console and officially reintegrate the sacked Emir into the mainstream society with all paraphernalia, is to create a new Emirate in Kaduna metropolis and appoint him the State’s Paramount Chief or Emir. “
Anything short of this, will never heal the eternal wounds governor Governor Ganduje has inflicted on the second Muhammadu Sanusi”, he stressed.
Comrade Ishaq however adviced El-Rufai to make sure that after the appointment, Sanusi must maintain sealed lips as required of all distinguished royal fathers, and should not be interfering in official matters of the state, the way he did when he was the Emir of Kano, and which consequently landed him into his present irreversible and regrettable state; so that he will not run into another round of trouble with whoever that happened to succeed him (El-Rufai), after his tenure.
Comrade Ishaq who also adviced the Governor to reinstate the Emir of Morwa, Malam Tagwai Sambo, who he removed as the Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU) and appointed the dethroned Emir as Tagwai Sambo’s replacement, all in an effort to console and keep him busy.
In his recent remarks shortly after he landed Kaduna from Lagos, where it was alleged that he had initially planned to live with his family for the rest of his life, the dethroned Emir thanked Governor El-Rufa’I for the love, solidarity and support he has always shown him for offering him a permanent accommodation in Kaduna, where he may have finally decided to live for the rest of his life.
He told the Governor that “The world knows that whenever am in need of friends, you are the first one to show up.”
