After Dismissing 70 Fake Certificated Staff, NECO Governing Council Promotes 813, Appoints Zonal Directorates

Shortly after the dismissal of 70 fake certificated staff of National Examinations Council (NECO), the Governing Board of the Council, under the chairmanship of Dr. Abubakar Saddique Mohammed recently approved the 2019 promotion of 813 staff to various ranks.

This was revealed in the Council’s Newsletter, which quoted Director, Human Resource Management Department Mr. Ebikibina John Ogborodi as saying that out of the total of 119 staff that sat for the 2019 promotion examination to the rank of Assistant Director only seven were unsuccessful.

He further revealed that out of the 100 Assistant Directors that sat for the examination to the position of Deputy Directors, only 89 passed, leaving the unsuccessful 21 to prepare for another examination in the following yar.

Mr. Ogborodi clarified that out of the total 960 staff that sat for the 2019 promotion examination to deserving ranks, 813 passed.

In a related development, the Board at its 17th extraordinary meeting approved the upgrading of all Six NECO Zonal offices in the country to the status of  Directorates.

The Board equally approved full professionalisation of the Council’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department. This means in effect that only Staff with ICT bias would work in the department.

The circular that conveyed the information about this development in the ICT department, which is a decision of the Governing board, quoted the Chairman, Dr. Sadiqque as saying that the move was in line with one of NECO’s ethos of maximizing its manpower for efficient service delivery.
