The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Professor Saad A. Ahmed of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre Jabi-Abuja, after beating 56 others in a keenly contested interview.
The Appointment, in a letter signed by the Minister of State for Health, Dr (Senator) Adeleke Olorunimbe Mamora, which follows expiration of the tenure of Dr (Mrs) Chinwe Igwilo, takes effect from 16th January 2020
Professor Saad who untill his recent appointment was the Medical Director of University Health Services, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He was also the pioneer editor of *Health Monitor* , a sister publication of *Education Monitor newspaper.
Professor Saad had also held several positions including; Deputy Director of the University’s Directorate of Academic Planning, ABU Zaria, Head of Department, Pathology, ABU Zaria, between and Pioneer Assistant Dean Postgraduate, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences ABU Zaria.
Born in  Malabu in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State on 15th April, 1972, Professor Saad Ahmed graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1998 with MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery), and became Professor in 2015.
He is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Pathology, Fellow of College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa and International Fellow, College of American Pathologists.
The learned Fellow is also a member, National Steering Committee on Maternal and perinatal Death Surveillance and Response and was a Member of Board of Management of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano.
He is a member, West African Division of the International Academy of Pathology, Associate Editor of Nigerian Journal of Clincal Practice and Editor-In-Chief Annals Tropical Pathology  Journal.
