One time Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, branch, Professor Muhammad Kabir Aliyu mni, has been elected as the chairman of Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Kaduna branch, of National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPS), Kuru – Nigeria.
Professor Aliyu who is also the Editor of Abuja-based monthly tabloid – Education Monitor Newspaper, was unanimously elected during the association’s quarterly meeting in Kaduna, recently.
Also elected were Major General UI Mohamed mni, and Mr Jonah Ambisa mni, who emerged as Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Association respectively.
Bashir Muhammad mni, Ibrahim Sambo mni and Simpa Bello mni, were elected as Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer respectively.
Elected as Financial Secretary, Welfare Secretary and Ex-Officio were MK Salami mni, Tijjani Ahmed Musa mni and Maryamu Laka Madami mni respectively.
The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru was established by Decree No. 20, 1979 and CAP Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The Institute is a high- level center for reflection, research, and learning, with the primary objective of serving as the nation’s foremost policy ‘think- tank’, developing a crop of top-class technocrats of high intellectual capacity, conceptualize and anchor the implementation of innovative and dynamic policy initiatives and strategies critical for national development.
Academics of excellence, seasoned policy initiators, and citizens of mature experience and wisdom, are drawn yearly from all walks of life to converge at the Institute to reflect and exchange ideas on great issues in the society, particularly as they relate to Nigeria and Africa.
