KIGALI, RWANDA – The African Consortium f KIGALI, RWANDA or Law and Religion Studies (ACLARS) will hold its 13th Annual International Conference on Law, Religion and Youth in Africa from 17th to 19th May 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda, with leading legal scholar Prof. Muhammed Tawfiq Ladan, PhD, listed among the key panelists and discussants.
The conference will bring together academics, legal practitioners, religious leaders, and policy experts to examine the role of law and religion in shaping the lives and prospects of African youth. Discussions will focus on human rights, governance, education, and social development as they relate to young people across the continent.
Prof. Ladan, a prominent figure in Nigerian and international legal circles, will contribute his expertise on constitutional law, human rights, and legal reform. He is a Member of the World Jurist Association, USA; a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (FNIAS); and a Hubert Humphrey Fellow, USA. His participation is expected to add depth to debates on legal frameworks affecting youth participation and protection in Africa.
ACLARS has organized the annual conference since its inception as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on law and religion in Africa. The 2026 edition in Kigali continues that tradition, with sessions designed to generate research insights and policy recommendations relevant to governments, civil society, and academic institutions.
The event will be hosted in Kigali and is open to researchers, students, and professionals working in law, religion, and youth development.
