In a landmark achievement for Nigerian academia, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has been conferred with the Honorary Fellowship of the Centre for Business & Economic Research (CBER) at the University of Oxford.
The prestigious ceremony took place Monday at the ROGE Conference Center within Oxford’s renowned Said Business School, recognizing Professor Liman’s exceptional contributions to knowledge leadership in her field. The honour follows rigorous evaluation by CBER’s Awards Committee, including multiple nomination stages and final approval through member voting.
The fellowship acknowledges Professor Liman’s transformative impact on higher education both in Nigeria and internationally. As NSUK’s first female Vice-Chancellor, her innovative leadership has positioned the institution as a growing force in African academia.
“This recognition reflects not just individual achievement, but the rising global stature of Nigerian scholarship,” read a statement from NSUK’s Information and Protocol Unit. The university community has celebrated the news as validation of its academic direction under Professor Liman’s stewardship.
CBER’s Honorary Fellowship is awarded annually to distinguished scholars and practitioners who demonstrate groundbreaking work in business and economic research. Previous recipients include Nobel laureates and leaders of major international institutions.
Professor Liman’s fellowship strengthens academic ties between Nigerian and British institutions, potentially paving the way for future collaborations.
The Vice-Chancellor is expected to return to Nigeria later this week, where the university plans an official reception to celebrate this international accolade.
