A Nigerian scientist of Igbo descent, Professor Ugochukwu Anieto has made a groundbreaking discovery in the area of medicine.

The smart scientist has discovered a new antibiotic drug used to treat drug-resistant infections. The drug is called “Anietocin”, named after his family name.

Professor Ugochukwu Anieto, who is an Instructional Associate Professor at College of Science Higher Education Centre McAllen in the United States of America, was celebrated by his cousin, Ozii Anieto, on popular social media platform Twitter just a few days ago.

Here’s a leaflet of the research publication from the Texas A&M University:

Dr. Ugochukwu Anieto is a native of Umunnachi in Anambra state. He was born and raised in Onitsha.

He attended the prestigious University of Azikiwe where he obtained a degree in microbiology before travelling abroad.

This development is indeed a good one for the nation as it’ll help to improve its image.
