The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK) to launch 18 undergraduate and professional degree programmes, including Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, and Software Engineering, beginning in the 2025/2026 academic session.
This was announced by the school Registrar, Professor Sanusi Gambo, in a statement released on Wednesday.
The approval follows a rigorous resource verification exercise by NUC officials, who assessed the university’s academic facilities, staffing, and institutional capacity.
The newly accredited programmes cut across three key academic domains including:
1. Medical and Health Sciences:
– MBBS (Medicine and Surgery)
– Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
– B.NSc. Nursing Science
– B. Medical Laboratory Science
2. Computing and Information Technology:
– B.Sc. Software Engineering
– B.Sc. Cyber Security
– B.Sc. Computer Science
3. Applied Sciences and Built Environment:
– B.Sc. Architecture
– B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry
– B.Sc. Quantity Surveying
Professor William Barnabas Qurix, Vice-Chancellor of FUASK, described the accreditation as transformative for the institution.
“This development positions FUASK as a strategic player in Nigeria’s higher education landscape,” Qurix said.
“Our new programmes in medicine, computing, and allied health sciences were carefully designed to meet both national needs and global standards.”
The Vice-Chancellor confirmed that infrastructure upgrades and faculty recruitment are underway to ensure smooth implementation.
