Ahmadu Bello University Zaria has lost a very popular staff, Malam Ibrahim Shuaibu, popularly known as Danjuma. Malam Danjuma, who died on Saturday, 5th April, 2025, aged 58, passed away after a protracted illness that arose from a stroke.

Danjuma, who was buried according to Islamic rites the following day in his Hanwa country home, is survived by two wives, 22 children, and 11 grandchildren.

The late Danjuma’s burial was attended by several hundred mourners, comprising relatives, friends, and colleagues from different parts of the country.

Commenting on the deceased, his nephew, Comrade Shuaibu Isa Ahmed, described him as a very righteous Muslim who was down-to-earth and regarded everybody, irrespective of their faith, as his friend or brother. He said this was attested to by the kind of crowds that attended his burial ceremony.

 

Comrade Shuaibu reflected on Danjuma’s life, saying, “He lived as a simple servant of God, but he died and was buried as a King.” He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Danjuma’s shortcomings, bless his family, and admit him into His garden of eternal bliss on the day of ‘each-to-himself’.

Danjuma’s passing has left a void in the university community, where he was known for his dedication and commitment to his work. His legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched during his time at ABU.
