Professor Maryam Aminu of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, has been elected unopposed as President of the Science Association of Nigeria, SAN.
In a statement after her election, Prof. Aminu expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and to members of the Association for the confidence reposed in her.
She thanked past Presidents, Fellows, Council members, colleagues, mentors, friends, and all who supported her throughout the process.
“I accept this responsibility with humility and a firm commitment to serve our Association with integrity, inclusiveness, and dedication,” she said.

Prof. Aminu pledged to work with members to strengthen SAN, promote scientific excellence, mentor the next generation of scientists, and ensure that science remains central to Nigeria’s development.
She noted that she is honoured to make history as the 3rd woman to serve as President of the Association, and expressed hope that her emergence would inspire more women and young scientists to aspire to leadership and service.
The new President said she looks forward to working with every member of SAN as the Association writes the next chapter together
