The Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) and Emir of Keffi,
HRH Alhaji Shehu Chindo Yamusa III,
has admonished graduating students of the Ivory Tower to be good ambassadors of the institution not just as certificate holders, but to endeavour to make positive impact in society.
The Chancellor gave the advice while delivering his speech during the institution’s Silver Jubilee and 8th Combined Convocation ceremony held at the weekend on the main campus.
He said, “To our students to be convoked, I congratulate you heartily. This moment is indeed a true fruit of your hard work and perseverance. It was also ensured by the enduring commitment of this great institution to learning, research and service to humanity. You really have worked with dedication, endured sleepless nights, and remained steadfast in the pursuit of knowledge.
“Today marks the beginning – a call to put your education to work for the progress of our dear country and uplift of our communities.
“Remember that academic excellence is not measured by certificates only, but by the positive impact we make in society. The knowledge you have acquired is a trust; use it judiciously with wisdom, integrity, and humility.
“Our youths remain the greatest asset of this nation. I urge you to be bold, innovative and disciplined to embrace technology, entrepreneurship, and service. The future belongs to those who combine intellect with character.”
Appreciating the management and staff of the university, the royal father said, “Your unwavering commitment continues to uphold the vision of building a centre of excellence where knowledge meets purpose and where young minds are nurtured to lead with conscience and courage.”
In a passionate appeal to stakeholders, the Emir said, “As Chancellor of this noble university, I call on all stakeholders – the government, development partners, alumni, and members of the university community to continue supporting this great institution. Let us strengthen our investment in education, research and innovation so that Nasarawa State University can continue to thrive.”
The monarch assured the gathering that the university would continue to produce graduates who would contribute meaningfully to our nation’s progress.
Welcoming the guests earlier, the Chancellor described the moment as “a reflection of our noble and collective commitments to knowledge, discipline, and service to humanity”.
He said, “It pleases me as it pleases everyone of you to witness this day, the day of the 8th Combined Convocation ceremony and Silver Jubilee Anniversary of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, the citadel of knowledge and the pride of Keffi Emirate, and the state at large.
“It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you all to this auspicious occasion. This gathering is surely not only a celebration of academic success or achievement, but also a reflection of our noble and collective commitments to knowledge, discipline, and service to humanity.
“To our esteemed guests, parents, guardians and friends of the University, I warmly welcome you all once again. Your presence here today adds joy, value, valour, vigour and honour to this event.
“May the Almighty Allah bless our graduates, strengthen our university, and guide our leaders to continue giving educational sector a succour as the cornerstone of development, peace, security and progress in all ramifications.”
