Nasarawa State University, Keffi has unveiled a week-long lineup of activities ahead of its 8th Combined Convocation Ceremony and Silver Jubilee Anniversary, with top academics, alumni, and community outreach programmes forming the core of the celebration.

The university, which marks 25 years of existence, said the events will run from April 5 to April 11, 2026, culminating in the award of bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees at the main convocation ceremony.
A major highlight of the programme is the convocation lecture to be delivered by renowned African scholar, P. L. O. Lumumba, who is expected to speak on “Universities Leadership of African Renaissance: Re-Imagining Knowledge for Development in the 21st Century.” The lecture is scheduled for April 10 at the university’s main campus.

Earlier the same day, an anniversary lecture will be presented by Umar Buba Bindir, focusing on the role of alumni in transforming Nigeria’s tertiary education system through wealth creation and innovation.

Beyond academic engagements, the institution has incorporated community-focused activities into the celebration, including a medical outreach at the Emir’s Palace in Keffi and sanitation exercises across neighbouring communities.

University officials say the initiatives are designed to reinforce the institution’s commitment to social responsibility.
The programme will also feature a novelty football match between the Vice-Chancellors of the University and Bingham University, alongside an alumni engagement event in Abuja aimed at strengthening ties with graduates of the institution.

Other pre-convocation activities include an interdenominational service, a press conference by the Vice-Chancellor, and rehearsals ahead of the final ceremony.
The grand finale on April 11 will see the commissioning of key projects followed by the formal conferment of degrees at the convocation square.
