Mewar International University on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, hosted its Cultural Food Presentation as part of the ongoing Cultural Week that began earlier in the week.

Students from all departments and levels participated in the event today, Wednesday, which brought together Nigeria’s cultural diversity through the display of traditional meals from different ethnic groups. The activities took place within the university premises and showed the backgrounds of students from various parts of the country.

Members of the university management, including the Pro-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice Chancellor, attended the event alongside teaching and non-teaching staff, students from all faculties and other members of the university community.

Education Monitor Newspaper followed the event from the preparation stage to the presentation of the meals at the venue. The dishes on display depicted the food culture of the participating ethnic groups.

Kanuri students presented Danderu, Biski, Yakuwa, Aleyyahu, Tamarind, Marɗo and Mansha Soup (Farfesu).

Yoruba dishes included Amala, Ewedu, Gbegiri, Moimoi, Ofada rice with sauce and Palm Wine.

From the Fulani group came Nyiiri with Ɓokko, Haako Kase and Ɓe Kwasam ɓe Dekere.

Hausa students presented Masa with Miyan Taushe, Shinkafa da Wake (Garau-Garau) and Ɗanwake.

Students from the South-South region, representing Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers states and others, presented Banga soup with starch, pounded yam, Bole with fish and pepper sauce.

Igala students from Kogi State displayed Oje oskapa, obo egwa, oskapa okpeye, oro dudu, okpa and akamu, while the Shuwa group presented Kabsar rice and kunun madara.

Bagyi tribe presented their cultural meals which include, Miyar Akaki, Tuwon Ruwa, Tuwon Masara, amd Pami.

The meals were presented to guests by the students, to give attendees a taste of Nigeria’s diverse food heritage.Activities for the Cultural Week at Mewar International University are expected to continue in the coming days.
