They want you to believe the heavy tax burden will be shouldered by rich people like Ɗangote, BUA, AA Rano, Garba Ƙarfe and their likes.

One question you should ask yourself, who patronises the products that these rich peeps produce? Who consumes rice, flour, cement, salt, spaghetti, seasonings, cooking oil, bread, soft drinks, semo, vegetable oil, etc? Therein lies the answer of whom the tax burden will squarely fall on.

Also, if we want practical anecdote of what is coming, recall what they said about petrol subsidy removal. I recall one lungu elder telling me then, that the subsidy removal was to affect only people like me because he didn’t have a car. That elder is still kicking his self induced financial injuries with no possible way out.

Also, I know of a fellow academic that was all out in support of that subsidy removal, bringing forth many window dressed data to support his arguments. Well, I still don’t know if he’s now able to dust off his parked car or the inflation has gone with it completely.

Oga madam, stop all these hallucinations. There is no way this error prone, state capture and one sided tax regime, aided by executive captured legislature tax concoctions will favour the poor in Nigeria.

As a set of docile poor people, let’s just ready ourselves and assimilate whatever pains this tax regime will bring. We have shown, time without numbers, our capacity to suspend our disbelief capabilities and our high pressure tolerance to any third person induced suffering in Nigeria.

Indeed, as the poor Nigerians that we are, there is no any wall that when we are pushed to, we can react, all we do is to jump over the wall and wait for another push to come and then jump over the wall again.

This is who we are!

This is what we do!!

And, our political elites understood us better than ourselves!!!

As poor Nigerians, we have high level tolerance for all policies that are anti poor. Let’s just get ready and continue to assimilate into more suffering.

In my Prof’s words, “za mu ɗanɗana kuɗar mu.”
