The Kaduna State Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has issued a strong denial against a viral social media message claiming that Governor Uba Sani has approved the full implementation of the new minimum wage for teachers.
In a press release dated October 24, 2025, the union described the information as “false, misleading, and completely unfounded.”
The statement accused “political propagandists and data agents” of creating the rumor with the aim to “mislead, distract, and weaken the collective resolve of Kaduna State teachers in their legitimate struggle for fair treatment and decent remuneration.”
The NUT clarified that, as of the release date, no official statement, circular, or document has been issued by the Kaduna State Government to confirm the approval. It also noted that the union itself has not verified the claim.
Recall that the union gave the Kaduna state government an ultimatum of 21 days — from 2nd October to 23rd October — to address its grievances, failure of which prompted the union to declare an indefinite strike which took effect on 12:00 midnight of 23rd October, 2025.
The union urged teachers in the state to “remain focused, vigilant, and united,” emphasizing that their struggle continues until an official pronouncement is made and the changes are reflected in their salaries.
